  • Hello,

You don't need a create privilege to merge contacts.

Privileges needed to merge contact are Append Activity, Append Contact, Append To Contact, Merge, Read Contact, Share Contact, Write Activity and Write Contact.

As you rightly said, it updates the record and allows you to choose one contact as master record which shall remain active and other which gets deactivated after merging.

Hence that's why Write privilege is required rather than a create privilege.

    Hope it helps!

  • Odd because we get a privilege error without Create and I don't see how Create would substitute for any of these.

  • If you can enable tracing, then the trace logs should tell you the specific privilege that is missing

  • Hi,

You could also try using Fiddler to capture more detailed 'priv' errors (check this out https://woodsworkblog.wordpress.com/2013/11/07/crm-2013-diagnosing-access-is-denied-using-fiddler/) and then look up the priv here to find out which privilege to set in your security role.
