Adding a Bank in Money Plus Home and Business RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've spent the better part of two hours trying to link the program to my bank. When I go to online setup, it says to type in my bank's name, or 'select one from the list," however there is no list, just a blank drop-down menu. If I type in my bank's information it asks if it's a personal or business account, then for the account number, then the current balance. After this I am completely lost. I cannot figure out how to get the bank information synced to the program. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • When Microsoft stopped support for Money and made it available for free, it eliminated all capabilities for the program itself to connect to financial institutions.  There are, however, ways to manually download bank or investment transactions and then import them into Money.  Have a look at:

for one way to do this.  Another good resource for Money help is the money.mpvs.org web site.  This link discusses importing data into Money:

  • I use PocketSense to get much statement info into Money. It is common for credit cards and brokers to have the needed server. Banks less so, and when they do, they usually have a monthly charge for that. So I download the OFX file via my bank's website, and that I do much less frequently than the info that comes in via PocketSense. PocketSense uses the access method that Quicken does for "direct" access. If you need more supported access, you should look at Quicken.

You can look around https://microsoftmoneyoffline.wordpress.com/ While it is not updated much, it has some good info for OFX settings.
