Windows 7 Validation Issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi!  I fully realize that you ask for the details of a failed validation, however part of my problem is that it does not give me that information.  It tells me my windows may not be genuine and to click finish for more information.  When I click on finish, it takes me to a page on your site which does not give me any specific information whatsoever (I tried to paste the link so you could see it but it says I cannot do so because my account with you is new ... VERY FRUSTRATING to say the least ... sometimes I would almost swear computers are designed to make people lose their freaking minds    : / )

So, please let me explain how I got to this issue.  And note that I have done things very recently that required windows to validate using genuine advantage with no issues resulting.  I have disliked WMP 12 ever since I got my windows 7 several years ago and finally decided I wanted to go back to vs. 11.  I was unable to just uninstall 12, so I went on your site for information on how to go about this.  I turned of media sources, took ownership of all the files it told me to, made one registry change and downloaded wmp 11 just as instructed.  I then tried to install WMP vs 11 and this is when it tries to validate my windows and gives me this error.

Any help you can give me would be much appreciated.  I now have no working WMP on my computer and may have issues anytime genuine advantage tries to validate my windows.

Thank you very much and have a blessed day!

  • If you alter Windows 7 system files, your installation can become "non-genuine".  Microsoft does not support installing WMP 11 in Windows 7.
