  • Hi,

    There can be a number of scenarios where "Custom" WCF Services are invoked from Dynamics CRM, if that is what you're asking about. Example can be as follows:

    1. Querying some external system to fetch data like order tracking (AS400) systems.

    2. Using a address location mechanism to fetch address details when a pincode is supplied.

    3. Pushing Order data from CRM to external systems (typically in warehouses).

    and lot more.

    Basically, WCF Services are called from Plugins to interact with (generally non-Microsoft technology) external systems.

    There could be different scenarios like

    > You have a requirement to integration MS CRM with other application which expose wcf service

    > You need to integration your internal CRM with external application, but you don't want to expose your CRM externally, you can develop a wcf service and make it available to extranet for data integration.
