When using SyncToy 2.1 on two computers, the file sharing will not go two ways. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Recently upgraded both computers to Windows 7.  When reinstalled, can't do file sharing both ways, only Desktop to Laptop.  "unknown error:  access is denied"  Checked all network sharing settings, and all SyncToy settings are alike.  tested various things and it appears to be SyncToy itself.

  • Hi RandomTan,

Thank you for choosing SyncToy and reporting your issues. The “access is denied” error is often caused by one thing: that SyncToy had not necessary permission on these folders. Would you like to show more details about it?

On which computer did you run SyncToy? Can other applications, such as Windows Explorer, modify (create, rename and delete files) the folder of your Desktop successfully? Have you tried running SyncToy as Administrator?
