How to run chkdsk on WHS System Drive(C:) RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have tried using the Script suggested by Ken Warren to run chkdsk on all WHS drives.

        net stop pdl
        net stop whsbackup
        chkdsk D: /x /r
        chkdsk C: /x /r
        for /d %%1 in (C:\fs\*) do start chkdsk /x /r %%1

    The Script worked for the Data Drive(D:);

    but, as I expected, once the Script tried to execute chkdsk on the System drive(C:),

    the chkdsk command asked if I wanted to run chkdsk the next time the WHS was rebooted.

    Since I also knew chkdsk/(autocheck)? would run in character mode before the system bootstrap,

    I was curious to know what WHS's behaviour would be while chkdsk was running,

    and where would I see the real-time output from the chkdsk command.

    I checked EventViewer in the WHS; but the {winlogon} entry could not be found.

    I do not beleive that chkdsk was run on the System Drive.

    SO ... My question is ...

    How do you run, (and get the results), from running chkdsk on a WHS System Drive(C:) ?

    Thanks for any help
