Designing a web application for a family website RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I have just started asp.net development and whilst learning console programming, I decided to follow a book from start to finish, this time around with learning web development I am trying to take a different approach by actually setting myself projects to do and then learn from it. I intend to develop a web application, more like a family register online.

The functionalities that I am looking to develop are as follows.

Ability to register, change details and have a login & password.

    Remember password functionality

Having a random number generated and user needs to input number to stop automated spam registrations.

Ability to enter messages onto a message table.

    Ability to register events

Ability to have administrators who can perform certain admin tasks.

Having super admins who can change privileges.

Now I know that .Net does have a role membership functionality that can do most of the things mentioned above, the issue is that I want to customize the database and have the ability to add features. Extend etc. I am curious that the built in .Net role membership for managing logins, roles etc may not be suitable. Can anyone advice on the above, as I am putting together the design specification.

    Thanks in advance.
