Windows Validation ActiveX not working. RRS feed

  • Question

I am trying to download the update that deals with the Graphics Virtual Address problems, and I need to validate that my copy of windows is genuine before it will let me. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=A156E265-40FF-468E-BBA2-3D1E1929C416&displaylang=en

When I click continue, I dont get any prompts for ActiveX so I try the Alternate Method. I click continue to run the validation tool but I always get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".

I have tried setting all my ActiveX security options to Enable or Prompt, but still nothing happens.

When I try the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic tool, I get a pass for ActiveX Enabled, but a fail for Windows validation ActiveX loaded.

How am I supposed to validate that my copy of Windows is Genuine?
