sql server 2005 requirements for CRM 4.0 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,
What are the requirements for best practices when installing SQL SERVER 2005 (sp3)?
Is it to use Network service account to all services execpt to srs service, which should be local account?

Does this configuration should be changed if the installer is not domain controller but has only local administrating
    privileges?

  • Hi,

Two part of the Implementation Guide for Dynamics CRM 4.0 are specifically designed to address your questions. They are called 'SQL Server installation and configuration' and 'SQL Server requirements and recommendations for Dynamics CRM' and are available here, respectively: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd979200.aspx and http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd979201.aspx.

The recommendation says that you can use whichever account (domain or local system or Network Service) to run SQL Server services, unless it is a local user account. Additionally, if you install Reporting Services and Dynamics CRM on the same machine, you should not run them using the same account (e.g. both application pools cannot run "Network Service").

    I hope that helps,
    Kuba
