Reports in Excel Services vs. Excel RRS feed

  • Question

  • I tried to start an sample report in Browser view and get the message: The data connection file used in the workbook http://pros2010/PWA/ProjectBICenter/Data%20Connections%20for%20PerformancePoint/Deutsch%20(Deutschland)/Project%20Server%20-%20Lieferumf%C3%A4nge.odc represents a trusted location. Failed to update the following connections: Project Server - deliverables

In the next step I open the report in Excel and the report works fine.

The path http://pros2010/PWA/ProjectBICenter/Data%20Connections%20for%20PerformancePoint/Deutsch%20(Deutschland) is configured as a trusted data connection library.

    Why doesn't it work?

    Thanks

  • I'd reinstalled the Secure Store Service for the ProjectServerApplication. Now the examples are working in Excel services, but no template or a own report stored in the example folder. In Excel all works fine. The SSS-ID in all Excel-Applications is the ProjectServerApplication.

  • Is the sample report library also configured as a trusted location?

  • The path needs to configured appropriately in trusted data connection library..

I feel "/" was not there at the end.

    Try the following

    http://pros2010/PWA/ProjectBICenter/Data Connections for PerformancePoint/Deutsch (Deutschland)/

  • It is the same result with and without the "/" at the end of the path. In the technet-article the path for the library is without "/" at the end , it only in the path to the the trusted locations. So it is configured.

  • Can you add the following in Trusted file location page? Trusted children : Yes

    http://pros2010/PWA/ProjectBICenter

Did you configure the Secure store service appropriately?

Select the ProjectServerApplication ID under secure store service.

Set Credentials and Set permissions as per the reporting database permissions.

  • I'd added the link to the trusted file locations - no effect. Than I rebuilt the Secure Store service Application and give the permissions to all authentificated users - no effect. In Excel all works fine, in Excel Services all the odc files are not trusted files.

  • Hi Klaus,

have you installed Project Server with a language pack? Brian has just posted a description what happens to trusted locations when using language packs and AAM. Does it perhaps apply to your situation? http://blogs.msdn.com/b/brismith/archive/2010/08/24/project-server-2010-business-intelligence-center-behind-the-scenes.aspx
