One of my computers in suddenly not connected to Windows Home Server and isn't backing up. HELP! RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have computers from 2010, using Windows 7, not sure if that's when I got the Home Server or if it is earlier. Recently got hit by a nasty virus (Cryptowall) and took one of the computers offline altogether. I replaced it with a computer that had been used previously but had been offline for about 4 months. Home Server recognized it, and it backed up for two days.  Then it went gray, and it stopped backing up. I cannot figure out how to get back to being recognized by the Home Server for backup purposes. It has access to shared folders stored in the Home Server, and is running on the same home network as my other two computers. Any suggestions?

  • Only some common hints here:

    • Try uninstalling/reinstalling the Connector software.
    • Check the event log of the PC for errors. If necessary, check the disk for errors.
    • Ensure, that no security suite blocks required connections.
