I bought a new computer which came with Windows Vista. When I first started up the computer, Vista installed automatically not needing the disc that came with it and automatically registered itself online. After Vista was installed, I decided to go back to my previous version of Windows (XP) but found that most of the hardware and/or drivers are not compatible.
I re-installed Vista using the disc that came with the computer and I skipped the part where it asks for a product key because there is no sticker or anything which has it on. While looking at the System Info (Control Panel > System and Maintenance > System) I noticed it said "30 day(s) to activate. Activate Windows now" so I clicked on that and it asked for the product key. Because there was nothing to show what the product key is, I clicked on "Show me details for the error that requires this change" and this is what came up:
----- The following information was found for this error:
Code: 0xC004C003
Description: The activation server determined the specified product key is in use. -----
I found my Product Key back but it still gives me the same error message when I type in and also when I try to change the product key it doesn´t work, and even trying to purchase a new product key didnt work even I really don´t want to do that. Could you please help me?
friendly greetings, fismoluni

The problem you have is due to the fact you apparently used the Windows Vista Anytime Upgrade disc to reinstall Vista. What you need to do is to contact the manufacturer of your computer and request their Vista recovery or reinstallation disc designed for your specific computer model. The Anytime Upgrade disc was designed to upgrade from one edition of Vista to another edition of Windows Vista. Since you do not have a Vista product key for the edition you installed, the problem became evident.
