Where is the Product Key? RRS feed

  • Question

  • My copy of Windows XP was found to be a Pirate about 1 month ago.  Last week my Hard Disc failed so I've had to buy a new one.  Whilst trying to install Windows it's asked for my Product Key which is apparently on the back of my "Windows CD folder" ?  I can't find it, all that is on the back is a WINDOWS XPPRO GENUINE ADV ENGLISH INTL sticker with DIRECT CD NO KEY written on it?

Where do I find the Product Key?

Try looking inside the folder, around the area where the CD is held.

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

The CD that you are using to install XP From is a WGA Kit CD. The Product key should have been sent to you in an email from MS. If you did not receive the E-Mail due to spam filters, whatever, then the key can also be found on your Invoice in the brown bag your product arrives in. If you do not have the invoice and you are a european customer then you can request the key from MS. Bear in mind for the support guys to find your Order they will need your order details; if you do not have them then the address that you used to place the order will be OK.

Hope  this helps. Good luck :)
