Lost data after removing microsoft account user from PC! Help Please! RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am on a Windows 8.1 laptop. There was a local admin user named Joe. I wanted to download an apps from the app store but it wanted a Microsoft account to do so. I then put in my Microsoft account information (different from the local admin user account).

It's almost like the new Microsoft account just took over the computer. I could no longer login to the other account (Joe), but I could access he's files on the c:\ drive.

After I was done using the app I remove the Microsoft account and ALL it's files. This is were I think I f*cked up. After doing this I can no longer access Joe's files anymore. Under Joe's folder on the c:\ drive NOTHING shows up. It is empty!!!

Joe is the owner of the PC and was just letting me use it.

How do I get this data back.

I tried a restore but I get an error 0x81000204.

  • Hello,

The 'Academic Initiatives - General Discussions' forum is for any posts not covered under any of the other forums as related to Microsoft's Academic Initiatives.

As it's off-topic here, I am moving the question to the Where is the forum for... forum.
