Getting exception: "Could not connect to the scheduler. The user may not be authorized to connect to the scheduler or the scheduler service might not be running." RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am able to connect to HPC scheduler by running my code locally through console. But when I am invoking it as a service it is giving the above exception. What might be the problem?

  • Hi,

Could you tell us the HPC Pack version?

And where did your your service run? On client machine?

By looking at the error, it is because you're running your code under service account which is not in the cluster user group. A few ways to fix your problem:

    1. You need add the service account to the cluster user group, say your client machine name: myclient under mydomain, then you need add machine account mydomain\myclient$ in the cluster user group

    2. Run your service in some domain account that is in the cluster user group

    3. Use ConnectServiceAsClient instead of Connect. Please check https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.hpc.scheduler.ischeduler.connectserviceasclient(v=vs.85).aspx
