unable to back up

Question
-
I have a pc that gets the following message when trying to back up
"The backup failed because of a problem with your Windows Home Server COnnector Software. The system event log contains more details".
I have another PC (Vista) that does not have any issues.
Anybody got any ideas. I have deleted all my previous backups for this pc but that did not fix it. It is a Win7 pc.Saturday, January 23, 2010 1:46 AM

Fixed it. Had to turn off system restore and shadow copies and then do a chkdsk.

Did you look at the event log for details? Has it ever backed up? Have you tried uninstalling the Connector software, rebooting the client, then installing it again (from \\server\software\home server connector software)?

I had a look at the even log. It stated it just failed and to click on the link for more info. I click on the link and then the microsoft site says that there is no information available.
I have been able to back up the pc sucsessfully for 6 motnhs prior. I have removed the pc and reconnected to whs.Saturday, January 23, 2010 5:57 AM -
Where there other error messages or warnings around (i.e. Volume Shadow Copies failed or ntfs errors)?
Also the error message in detail (on the client) could be helpful.
Could you try to uninstall/reinstall the Connector software?
Which security software is installed on the client (potentially blocking the communication between client and server)?
