What is .NET Full Form?

  Dear All

  I had attended an interview at xyz company. He asked me What is a full Form of .NET? and i answered him that Microsoft has not defined any Full Form for it. It is named as it support networking. 

  I know my answer was wrong but i googled for it and found that it stands for "Network Enabled Technology" and . means it is "full stop for previous technology". I found it on other site not on Microsoft. So I just wanted to confirm about it. Please Help Me
