trying to add a External Hard drive can some one help RRS feed

    Hey,

    I got a hardrive docking station so that I could transfer over important files from my old hard drive to my new one.. But when I go to disk managment to try and set it up, it sees it, but says that the disk is Unkown & Unreadable.. I tried right clicking it and it seems to know that it is a storage disk but I can't do anything with it..,

    Probably just a noob problem(seeing as I have never added a drive., and I'm pretty knew at messing with them in the first place), i hope thats the case anyway..

    I need the stuff Off this drive it contains a good amount of my work and I can't afford a data recovory service..,

    please help?!

     here's the Info on My Hard & soft ware: hope its of use

    HD docking station: "Thermaltake_black X duet_Dual Hard drives Docking station"

    OS: Microsoft windows vista (home premium)

    Version: 6.0.6000 build 6000

    system manufacturer: Gateway
