Where is the Database? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am using MS Project Server 2007 on the SharePoint.  I am not the one who installs the MS Project Server here.

I see that some people in this forum are using SQL to retrieve information from the Database.  If I want to do SQL then I need to know where the Database are located so I can enter the SQL that I am going to create at the right place, I also need to know the table structure and relationship between the tables as to retrieve which table for what purpose.

How do I get that information.

    Thanks, oemar00

  • For Information on where your SQL resides, if you have access to Central Admin >>  SSP Administration <SSP Name> >> Project Server Tab >> Project Web Access Sites >> Select the drop down of the Instance for which you want to get DB Server / DB Names >> Edit >> Under the Reporting Database You will get the Reporting Server Name >> Under the Reporting Database Name you will get the <DB name> and this is the DB you need to refer to pull all the information for custom reporting purposes

Else you may get in touch with your Sharepoitn Central Administrator and he will get you the names :)

Now for the schema that you are asking for, would recommend you to refer to Project Server 2007 SDK download, wherein SDK download contains Reporting DB Schema documented

    Download Here : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyId=2672F6F9-7028-4B30-99A2-18CB1EED1ABE&displaylang=en

    Hope this helps
