MCITP:Enterprise Training Kit 4 pak 2008 2nd edition RRS feed

  • Question

  • I may buy this for learning purposes. Cannot afford any other training, so I may buy this at a low price, used! Is it worth $50.00 just to learn the basics of system administration? Any issues with activation? Can I use this without a server, just on 2 laptops maybe? I know Microsoft does not support this anymore. Any and all advice welcome!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi,

I would not invest in a MCITP/Server 2008 training (used or new). Windows Server 2012 is now mainstream and next year Server 2016 will become available.

Instead look for MCSA: Windows Server 2012 self study guides (books or a video based solution like Pluralsight that Kjetil already suggested) . There is also a lot of free training in the Microsoft Virtual Academy (MVA) http://www.microsoftvirtualacademy.com/ at no cost.

  • Hi,

You could consider a Pluralsight subscription at $29/month. All the certifications in that kit are covered, plus a whole lot more :) I like training videos better than books, but that's up to you.

For training purposes you could run Hyper-V on your laptop and create virtual machines/servers.

    Best regards, Kjetil
