Please download the latest restore CD or see this thread which links to the hotfix.  This is a client side issue.

  • I downloaded the latest Restore CD ISO from the above link, burned the CD and Booted my PC (DELL Windows Vista) from the Restore CD. But nothing happens. The Restore Wizard does not appear at all. The following Instructions appear:

    1. Place the Home Computer Restore CD in the CD drive of the computer that you want to restore.
    2. Restart the computer and boot from the CD.

There are no instructions on the CD what to do if the wizard does not run. I searched the CD but there's no executable file having name like restore or restore wizard or something like that.

Please help me how to run the Restore Wizard.

    Thanks

  • The program you downloaded installs a disk image file which must be burned to the CD using a tool that's capable of turning a disk image into a bootable disk. Most CD burning utilities are able to do this, but the specific settings and options require obviously vary from program to program, so you'd be best off checking the help files  for whatever you're using to burn disks.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • I burnt the bootable CD and booted the computer from this Bootable CD. I found the ClientRestoreWizard executable file under the Windows/System32 folder. It runs fine but gives Connection error while there is no connection error. I tried connecting to HWS from Console from the same PC, it worked fine. I installed and ran the WHS Toolkit it didn't find any connection issue. But the RestoreWizard shows the Connection error even before letting me enter the Password. If I click on the Password Hint button it shows the Correct password hint. If its not able to connect to the WHS Server how can it know the correct password hint? Seems like there may be some bug in the Wizard.
