The Product Key is almost certainly stolen from an MSDN account.
Unless you are an MSDN subscriber, you
are not entitled to use the Key – and whoever sold it to you was not entitled
to do so.
You need to claim an immediate refund from the vendor - do NOT accept the offer
of a new key (all they are trying to do is to get past the 45-day claims window
or avoid you sending the evidence of their crimes to the
authorities)

The pirates have got VERY good at this over the past few years, as the price of
equipment for manufacturing the packages drops, and as factories open in less
well-policed countries.

To clarify, my situation is that I am getting a Windows may be counterfeit warning and that I must activate windows. I have tried pressing the activate windows button in system but it has me download legitcheck.hta which just gives me a few script errors. I have heard I can activate windows by phone but I do not seem to have that option and running slui.exe 4 from the cmd prompt does not do anything. I am wondering if my copy of windows is counterfeit or if there is something wrong with my installation and it is incorrectly telling me that windows is counterfeit. I have had windows running for about 4 months without any problem and it activated fine when I installed it.Wednesday, August 30, 2017 4:40 PM
