Windows 7 Home Premium Is No Longer Genuine RRS feed

  • Question

  • Exactly thirty days ago the Hard Drive on my computer was replaced and suddenly a message pops up saying my Windows 7 Home Premium is no longer genuine.  I am curious how I would go about validating my Windows 7 Home Premium, which Product Key do I use (Do I use the Windows Product Key referenced in this diagnostic or do I use the Product Key listed on the sticker on my computer) and, above all, would this be free? :)

  • You cannot use the product key printed in the report.  It is the embedded SLP key and cannot be used to activate manually.  You can use the COA key printed on the label affixed to your computer (in the battery compartment on many recent laptops).  Click Start and type "slui.exe 3" and then enter the COA key when prompted.  You may need to do telephone activation.
