  • Question

  • Hi,
I recently purchased a seond hand computer, with an installed version of office 2007. I have the box which was bought separately, with the certificate on it.
But the genuine service that displays in the task bar tells me that my office version is not valid.
When I launch an office software (outlook, word), the diagnosis inside this software tells me that there is no validation required.
    What to do?

    Thanks

I launched the diagnostic tool, and here is the result:

  • Hello vdelanno,

Here is a snippet of your mgadiag report:

At the moment your HP Pavilion computer has two installations of Microsoft Office:  Office Enterprise 2007 and Office Home and Student 2007.

Your current installation of Office Enterprise 2007 is a Volume Licensing installation, and the installation was done with a now-blocked Volume Licensing Product Key (VLK).

Blocked VLK means that the product key used to install Office Enterprise 2007 was, at one time, a genuine product key originally issued to a business, educational, or government entity.  However, in cooperation with the original keyholder, the key has been blocked by Microsoft from further use, and that could be for many reasons: it was leaked to the internet, lost, or stolen from the entity; the entity no longer has a valid VL agreement in effect with Microsoft; or Microsoft has noticed much more use of the key that the agreement allows for.

This installation is what is creating the notice about nongenuine Office software.

Your other installation of Office, Office Home and Student 2007, is reporting as a genuine retail license, which is exactly what an individual consumer should see on their report.

To correct this problem, please use the Control Panel Programs applet to uninstall the nongenuine installation of Office Enterprise 2007.  After uninstalling, please restart the computer twice, then visit www.microsoft.com/genuine and click the Validate Office button to ensure your Office H&S 2007 validates normally.

Occasionally, when a nongenuine installation of Office is on the computer at the same time as a genuine installation, leftovers from the nongenuine installation will continue to cause Nongenuine noticies to appear on your computer, even after the nongenuine Office is uninstalled.  If this takes place on your computer, pleas post back here for further assistance.
