Genuine Vista showing as invalid

Question
-
I don't understand why I have an invalid license - PC bought new 2 years ago from reputable national electrical store with Vista ready loaded. Proving impossible to activate.
Should I just contact Acer? I hear they're not very helpful...

Darin,
Thanks for your solution, but I've tried that several times, speaking to an operator as well and still not getting the correct result..
What did the operator say? If the Product Key is good (they would have told you if the key was bad) but they can't get Windows to Activate over the phone, they should have transferred you directly to Windows Support since the issue would be deeper the what I can troubleshoot on the forums.
Please, before you give the same answers yet again.
In your last post, you said "Have already tried the solutions proposed by Darin", However, you never said what solution you tried. Without knowing that, I had to start at the beginning and attempting to Activate by Phone is it.
Thank you,

Thank you Darin,
Forgive me - this was driving me mad. But I have now contacted your guys in New Delhi and after 2 hours, they seem to have solved the problem.
All the best,

If your laptop is an Acer,i think it is your eRecovery software causing the 'Monitor-Invalid License ID' message on startup.
All you need to do is rename the monitor.exe which is located in C:/program files/acer/eRecovery
Hope that helps you

Thanks Luna,
Problem is I don't seem to have a monitor.exe anywhere. Have already tried the solutions proposed by Darin. Any other ideas?
Thanks,

Hi ClaireST,
The only problem I am seeing is that your Windows is not Activated. Please try Activating by Phone.
1. Click on the Start button and in the Start Search box type in: slui.exe 4
2. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.
3. Select your Country.
4. Follow the instructions for phone activation.
Thank you,

Darin,
Thanks for your solution, but I've tried that several times, speaking to an operator as well and still not getting the correct result.
Please, before you give the same answers yet again, I've tried everything you have previously suggested and am a tad pissed off with MS and Acer now. Not you personally, of course. But please could you suggest another solution for someone who is 100% sure their Vista is genuine? Here's what happened if it helps... Just before I became "invalid" my pc crashed without even stopping at BSOD - just went to nothing and then instantly rebooted. Any ideas now?
Thanks again,
