CRM 2011 - Email a file that is already attached to the contacts record - via Workflow? RRS feed

    I want to be able to create an on demand workflow that emails a Customer with a file that is already present on their record as an attachment.

    The file will obviously be different for each customer.  Basically I want the user to choose the appropriate attachment and then run an on demand workflow that will send that file to the customer with standard email txt.

    Is this possible and can it be done out of the box or do I need a developer to write a custom workflow?

    I have looked at other threads but cant find an answer to something this specific

    Any help would be much appreciated

  • You can't do this using OOB workflow, you need to write custom workflow, in your workflow you can read attachment from related customer and can email that file.

    Check this for working with notes

  • Hi,

        The problem is fetching the relevant contact record or fetching notes record from contact record. OOTB both of these are not going to work out. In your case you need a custom workflow step to achieve this.
