WGA Currently Unavaliable? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I attempted to make a download today that required WGA. I first attempted to validate while using Firefox. When I arrived at the page to download the plug ins for the validation, I recieved no prompt to download them, no window popped up to allow me to make the download. When I selected the alternative method, I was taken to the "Server Not Found". I had the same results when I tried a second time with Internet Explorer. When I went to download the plug-ins, ActiveX never popped up and prompted me and when I select the Alternative Method I was again taken to a "This page cannot be displayed" as if the website was down. I tried again several hours later with the same results. IS the website down temporarily or is this on my end? Thanks for any help.

  • Launch Internet Explorer and from the Toolbar select Tools > Internet Options > Advanced.  Click on the Reset button and then the Apply button.  Close your IE window and try again: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/

  • I already ran the diagnostic. It says my problem is that the plug ins are not installed. Then when I go to the page to download them, it doesn't do anything or prompt me to get them. The diagnostic is telling me to get the WGA plug-in, but the website is not giving them to me..

  • If you happen to have a third-party antispyware or pop-up blocker installed, temporarily disable them.  If this does not help, then download the WGA file directly:

  • Can you post the results from the MGA Diag here for us to review?

When I tried the direct download it did the same thing, it sent me to the "this page cannot be displayed"
It's like the link is broken..

  • Any suggestions on why it's doing this or why the site isn't letting me download the plug-ins? This appears to be on the website's end...

  • I reset the settings and attempted to download again with the same results. Here's the diagnostic report after resetting.

    Passed Active scripting allowed
    Passed Display images enabled
Passed Computer time and date correct
    Passed Cookies enabled
    Passed ActiveX enabled
    Failed Windows validation ActiveX loaded
    Failed Office validation ActiveX loaded
    Failed Validation Self-help ActiveX loaded

I'm baffled.. as I've autenticated in the passed flawlessly..

  • Hey Wake,

Can you please run the MGA Diagnostic Tool again and provide us with the FULL results? Unfortunately we won't be able to provide you with assistance as we really need the full report in order to analyze what may be causing the problem.

Here are the directions I posted previously in a pinned forum article located:  http://forums.microsoft.com/Genuine/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2170194&SiteID=25
