What are the options for occasionally connected systems other than SyncFramework? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Subject says it all. I wonder what SyncFramework compete with? If there is WPF/Silverlight client occasionally connected to SQL Server based service what other technologies can be used to implement the scenario when the client should be able to work offline with cached data?

    Thank you! Konstantin

  • still on the MS stack and still far from releasing, try signing up for the Sync Fx Preview at http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/synclab/threads to see what's coming up in Sync Fx.

if you have SQL on your client side, SQL Merge Replication is another option.

You can also look at Google Gears (i think its been deprecated)

  • That looks awfully sparse - SF 1.0 SP1 or SF 2.1 without any VS designer support. And that's all the technology available for occasionally connected systems!?
