Live Mesh Halts my Win7 RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • it seems after some while live mesh will eventually cause some problem on my win7.

    after the previously problem. http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/LiveMesh/thread/d83e38bf-f198-4ac4-b328-275cda59b6cc/

i re-installed the whole system and it works fine until now.

it was the same problem just like before. but this time Live Mesh just halted the computer and i have no access to it.

it happens like this:  I have some word docs in synchronized folders. so i opened it and started editing. the 1st time live mesh halted the system is about 10 min after this action. the 2nd time takes only seconds. the system is just halted. explorer.exe doesn't respond, task manager stop responding, everything stops and hard disk doesn't seem to be busy.(blinking a few times and stopped).

the only thing i can do is to press and hold the power button. for both two times. actually at the second time i opened task manager to wait and see is live mesh behaving abnormally, but it doesn't, until the task manager stops.

after the reboot, the hard disk instantly became "unreadable". the bios cannot boot from the hard disk. according to the experience last time, you have to turn the computer off for like several minutes to let the hard disk back online. other wise doing something stupid like "scanning the disk" by another windows on secondary hard disk will lead to serious problem, just exactly like the last time.

how can i prove that it is Live Mesh causes this problem? I  cannot. However if I remove MOE from startup, there will be no more problem. And I run MOE again, this happens again. It looks like MOE is competing hardware resources with other apps or maybe hardware. i have submitted a log cabinet last time. i assume it is the same problem so there's no need to submit another one.

Thank you for reading this. I know it is very hard to find the cause but I still appreciate what you would do.

  • Can you post your bug report number or a link to it here? What security software are you running? In your other thread, you indicated that you were not running any at the time. Any other sync type software in addition to Live Mesh? I've not heard of a problem like yours before with Mesh. It sure seems like a conflict of some sort, probably with a driver that is misbehaving when Mesh is running.
