No backup of Homeserver of Windows 7 with XP mode and Office 2003

Question
-
I have Windows 7-64 with XP mode. In the XP mode i have Office 2003 installed.
My Homeserver (Sp3 ) makes a backup of the Windows 7 user (saenjo) and also a backup of the XP mode user (XPMUser).
But i cant make a backup of the Homeserver files to my 'My Book' of the saenjo account.
"Failed to process file Users\saenjo\saenjo\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Windows Virtual PC\Windows XP Mode Toepassingen\Microsoft Office\Microsoft Office-hulpprogramma's\Microsoft Office 2003-wizard Mijn instellingen opslaan (Windows XP Mode).lnk :
The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters.
Oke there is some Dutch in it, but i cant see thats the problem.
Is there a solution to make a backup of my Homeserver backup without 'corrupting' my XP mode files ?Sunday, November 15, 2009 9:34 PM

It looks to me like you need to trim the path down a little bit (10 characters should be enough).

Thanks for your quick replay, but i've been hard working (for a week) to get my (Trim)postville and a virtual Vista in the XP mode working. (it didn't)
I didn't have any problems with Virtual 2007 btw.
If i'm correct, i have to trim the amount of characters in the path.
I dont want to ruin my virtual XP, so if i change the path and for example remove "Mijn instellingen opslaan" which is something like "store your settings", i'm affraid to start all over again.
I also don't understand why the Homeserver itself has no problem with the lenght of the path because in the console there is no indication for a failure, only the backup to my "My Book" don't succeed.

Could this be because your My Book is formatted as a FAT partition rather an NTFS?Tuesday, November 17, 2009 12:57 AM

I've been trying to trim "Mijn instellingingen opslaan" to "MIO" in the specific path.
Still the same warning; it looks like i didn't change te "sentence' but it is! in the path on saenjo\saenjo\AppData\ etc.
I first have to buy a magnifying glass to find the exact type of my usb 'My Book' , but the nowadays models are NFTS and mine is from last year.
Anyway, i'm using my Homeserver from the beginning without serious problems and like the way of doing 'nothing'to make things work.
I still want a backupof my Homeserver instead of also making a backup by the Windows 7 system.Wednesday, November 18, 2009 12:28 AM
