Additional port/s for WCF (and perhaps REST) calls ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Is it possible to configure CRM (2011) to listen on an additional port for web servies requests ?

Ideally I'd also like to block normal web traffic on that port i.e. have it for web api calls only.

    Is this possible?

  • I think you can configure the web services to be on a different port. You do this via Deployment Manager, and you can set the Organization Web Service (which covers both OrganizationData.svc and Organization.svc) to be different from the Web Application Server

However, if you block them then you'll break a lot of Crm client functionality. The web client fundamentally depends on calls to OrganizationData.svc , and there are also a lot a calls to Organization.svc in specific parts of the application (the Outlook client depends on these, as does service scheduling, to give a couple of examples)
