End_of_NT_Evaluation_Peroid RRS feed

  • Question

  • I installed this system and have been attempting to use it for the last couple of days.  However, I am having difficulty with the Blue Screen of Death.  The mesage is "End_of_NT_Evaluation_Period."  If I restart the computer it comes right back up and operates fine as long as I am active with it.  In short it appears the computer is going into power saving mode-it is set up for S1 in the BIOS since I cannot set it to none.  Before anyone says anything I have checked and attempted to set the options to never in the operating systems power options.  It has had no effect.  Has anyone experienced this issue or have any ideas?  I have installed a new key, which has not helped.

  • I pulled the RC from the website three days ago.  Is there a version newer than that one?

No, there is not a newer version than the RC, however, from the description of the problem you're having it would appear that you've perhaps installed an older version regardless of what you've recently downloaded.

Can you run winver.exe and then post the line that begins with Version and the line that begins with Evaluation?

  • Just out there but have you verified your date/time settings are correct in bios?  I'm also verifying this is Windows Home Server RC 2011 you are talking about?

You've installed really old bits. The version you installed expired a while
ago, hence the BSOD with the message you're seeing. The new Release
Candidate was recently released. You're going to need to download and
    install those bits instead.

  • Well it looks like youre correct;  Ver 6.1  and Eval expires 01/10/2011.

Weird since I got the download from this sight:

    http://connect.microsoft.com/windowshomeserver

Where can I get the proper download?

That's the correct URL. When you go to downloads the RC should be the 4th
item on the list, should be clearly marked as the Release Candidate, and
    should be dated 2/1/2011.
