    Dear sirs:

I am getting a display error message that says "Unspecified Error, then below that it says error with a code 0x80004005. "  I also get a pop up that says display driver has recovered from a failure.  Sometimes I get something that says flash card has stopped working.  In all of these scenarios the computer screen goes black for a few seconds then comes back to the proper screen.  My computer is a Toshiba Satellite laptop which uses an ATI Radeon graphics card.  The computer warranty shop replaced the mother board and the graphics card yet I still have the same problems.  AMD Turion 64 is loaded on the computer.  Thanks for any help you can give me.

  • Hello Bamer,

Was your machine serviced by the manufacturer or a local business? Next did they completely reformat your hard drive using the Recovery Software Media which came with the laptop @ the time of purchase? Also did they install Toshiba parts or non-Toshiba parts? These questions are important because you have an OEM SLP version of Vista installed on your laptop. Let me provide you with the details of OEM SLP software.

OEM-SLP: Computers built by large commercial manufacturers that come with Vista Pre-installed come with two (2) Product Keys; SLP and COA Key.  SLP stands for System Locked Pre-install. OEM manufacturer’s add an OEM identifier string to the system BIOS during manufacturing. Windows verifies this identifier during the boot process. In this way the end user will not be required to activate Windows. The OEM SLP Key is geared to work with the special instructions found on that Manufacturer’s computer hardware.  The Product Key is available on the COA sticker and not installed in the computer. For example all DELL OEM SLP Windows Vista systems use a single product key but the COA sticker on the machine contains the unique COA. The key located on the COA sticker should only be used in limited situations and requires telephone activation. Example should you require to reformate the computer the key from the COA sticker would be used.

    PID format: XXXXX-OEM-XX119XX-XXXXX

As far as the display drivers and flash card not working correctly I recommend you to contact the manufacturer technical support. You can search their site for the correct drivers as well as actually calling them for support.

    Thank you,
