Having the Vista Build 6002 error

    Question

  • Hi, I've had the Build 6002 error for over a year, and I'm finally trying to deal with it.  My Windows Vista is completely genuine, so I don't know how this happened.  I would love whatever help anyone can provide me.  Thanks.

There;s sill a full section missing from the report – from which I assume the problem lies with the Licensing Store.
Please try the below steps to recreate the Store with the correct data.

    1) Open an Internet Browser window.
    2) Type: %windir%\system32 into the browser address bar.
    3) Find the file CMD.exe
    4) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select 'Run as Administrator'
    5) Type: net stop slsvc (it may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
    6) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing
    7) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
    8) Type: cd %windir%\system32
    9) Type: net start slsvc
    10) Type: cscript slmgr.vbs -rilc (It may take a long time for this to complete, please be patient)
    11) Restart your computer twice.
You may be asked to enter your COA Key and/or Activate.
Once complete, run another MGADiag report and post back with the results

There appears to be some data missing from the report – please run it again and include ALL the data this time.
To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
      - **in your own thread**, please

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine, but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

  • Thanks so much for your continued help.  Here is the new report, which looks to my eye to be the same.  If it helps, I had only one problem with the DOS script directions: when I got to your step 7, I got the following error: "A duplicate file name exists, or the file cannot be found."  I thought maybe this was just because I typed in your step 7 without a space between "tokens.dat" and "tokens.bar" the first time by accident, but in any case, that's the error that came up when I typed it correctly the second time.  Again, thanks so much, and I really appreciate whatever further guidance you might be able to provide.

Thanks so much for your continued help.

    Diagnostic Report (1.9.0027.0):

David is right – the error message you get is because someone has already run the procedure at least once, so the target name already exists.
You should change the target name to something else (I tend to use ‘tokens.bar2’  or .bar3 etc.. for clarity) in your next attempt.
