Access shared folder RRS feed

  • Question

  • I need to be able to access a share folder from a restricted steady state account. The shared folder is located on a file server running Windows Server 2003. The network is set up as a workgroup. I have mapped this folder and have no trouble accessing it using the restricted account, however, when logging out of this account the connection to the shared folder is disconnected and fails to reconnect when logging back in. The following suggestion from this newsgroup talks of a "checkbox that can persist the drive for that user account"

In explorer (such as opening my computer) you can see the menu option under tools called map network drive.

One of the checkboxes there can persist the drive for that user account.

of course you must take the standard steps in order for the action to persist...

If this is the "reconnect at logon" checkbox, I have tried that, and reconnection is never established.

So...is it possible to map a shared folder for access from a restricted account and never loose the connection to that shared folder?
