script error "Unspecified error" when trying to subsribe to one care RRS feed

  • Question

  • This is my fourth attempt to try to subscribe to one care after my trial ended in December.

I sit here with my credit card and ready to pay the $50.00 fee but when I get to the subscribtion page I get an Internet Eplorer Script error

An error has occured on the script in this page

    Line: 270

    Char: 30

    Error: Unspecified error

    Code: 0

    URL:  https://signup.msn.com/pages/Accountinfo.aspx

If I click yes on continue running scripts the window disapears and when trying to fill out the form I still get the same error even if I try to access the help button.

I went into Internet Explorer 7 >tools> Internet options> Advanced> Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer)  AND (other) to find that the problem still persist.

    Do I unistall?  then reinstall?

My account as far as using the trial version is verified so this maybe a problem on my end.  Also I tried to click on buttons to have my computer scanned for clean up thinking this may help and nothing happened, no window came up and the program did not download.

Please let me know what I can do to get my subscription validated, I really felt secure having one care take care of all of my needs.

    Thank you!

  • Hi, Carrie.
In IE, go to Tools / Internet Options / Advanced.
Click on the reset to default button near the bottom of the advanced tab.
    Close IE.
Try to proceed with the purchase from within OneCare again.
If you still get the error, try the following:
Close OneCare (just the main screen and any open windows).
    Open IE.
    Go to http://onecare.live.com
Click on the buy today button
It should forward you to a page where you will sign in and proceed with a purchase.
Once purchase has been confirmed, open OneCare, click subscribe and sign in with the *same* LiveID you used during the purchase.
If that still doesn't work, please review the information on the KB article referenced here:

And feel free to contact support at any point.

One other note, you can save some money by purchasing a retail copy of OneCare from a store or online retailer. All you need is the PIN or Key from inside the package. You can then start your subscription by signing in with your LiveID and choosing to activate with a PIN or Key, but if you are encountering a script error for IE, you may need to get some help with IE before proceeding:
