In order to use RDC, how can I add other users to my view?

Question
-
I really like the idea behind Live Mesh. Personally I see it as the best method available to me to help my parents and in-laws with their computer woes so I don't have to hop in the car and drive to them.
But how can I get access to their computers to use RDC? Do they to sign up for Live Mesh and log in to the client with their own Live ID and I add them some how to my view? Do I need to install the Live Mesh client on their computer using my credentials? Is that safe?
What is the best method to add a PC that is not under my control to Live Mesh?
I really like the ability of having a folder of trouble shooting tools available and synced across all computers with the current version. The folders I can manage, but it is the RDC piece that is confusing to me.Tuesday, July 22, 2008 3:38 PM

For this scenario to work you need to:
1) install Mesh client on your parent's computers, sign in and "claim" their computers, i.e. add them to your device ring at signing in.
2) You can now access them remotely and use remote desktop even if no one is logged in on those computers (even if no one is logged in to Windows).
This is what's available right now. It is possible to add a new feature to Live Mesh which would allow users to give control to other users for remote administration, but it is not implemented at this point. If you like this idea please add it to the queue of requests.
On the other hand - the fact that you have to be in front of those computers in person to "claim" them, so you can access them remotely, makes the system a bit more secure, since fishing attacks that may lead to remote access are not possible.- Marked as answer by Ben [Live Mesh] Wednesday, July 23, 2008 5:07 PM

Remote Desktop to devices in the mesh would be dependent on Live Mesh being installed on those Devices with *your* LiveID.
There is no facility to add a device to your Mesh that is installed with someone else's LiveID. The LiveID is the owner of the Mesh. You can add Users to a folder, which allows them to sync that folder to any devices in their Mesh, but RDC isn't shared between LiveIDs.

Stephen, do you need me to submit it via connect as well?
I posted in the sticky here on the forums: http://forums.community.microsoft.com/en/LiveMesh/thread/dd382356-bea0-490d-bfbd-1260224f3846/#page:17
EDIT: I added it to the Connect, I have some spare time this morning. https://connect.microsoft.com/LiveMesh/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=357461

Hi Zeke009,
Thanks for adding your request to the Wish List. The additional submission through Connect is fine, too. :)Thanks,
Ben.

Zeke009,
Both places sounded good to me. I see that Ben replied that this was good. Note that I'm just a fellow tester and user of Live Mesh.
In my opnion, being able to grant other users rights for RDC sounds decent, but I'd want to make sure that the highest security and safeguards were in place to prevent abuse of this capability.

I could not agree more with you Steve. Maybe that is where an RDC connection to a guest in your Mesh Ring would require some one sitting there to acknowledge and a strong PAs$99w0Rd would be required for the person making the connection.Wednesday, July 23, 2008 5:35 PM
