  • Question

  • Recently I had to reformat my computer due to it being crippled by spyware and such, and while reinstalling Windows (XP Home Edition), I've discovered that my COA sticker had been removed. I scoured the Microsoft website for an answer, finding that I need to call someone to order a replacement key but could not find the phone number anywhere on the site. I would like to know this number, or possibly some easier way around my problem.

  • Hello mistersecondbase,

If your computer is from a major manufacturer, if you use the Recovery or Reinstallation discs that come with the computer to cleanly install XP Home, quite often there is no need to enter the Product Key, as the major manufacturers mostly use a special deployment Product Key.

You might want to check with the tech support staff of your manufacturer if the above applies to you.
