Suddenly not valid Windows 7 Ultimate RRS feed

  • Question

  • Was working on shrinking my C: partition this evening/morning in preparation to move everything over to a new SSD and after a reboot I started getting a message that my copy is not valid.  I am pretty sure it is valid since it is a technet key.  When I tried to update my key through the system panel I do not have an option to change my product key.  Windows Activation shows a Status Not Available and Product ID: Not Available.

Here is the results of the diag

  • Prior to rebooting slui reported invalid, once rebooted I ran it again and it prompted me to activate, which seems to have completed successfully as far as I can tell.  Here's the post-activation diag log, muchas gracias!

  • That looks better - you now need to attempt validation at www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate

When you pass, you'll be offered IE9 and MSE (you don't have to accept).

If you don't pass, please run another MGADiag report and post the result.

  • Yep, looks like that did the trick, thanks again!  In the middle of numerous defrags and partition shrinking stealing my sleepy time away, this sort of made me panic :)  Now I can image my C: drive over to that shiny new SSD!

  • You'll almost certainly get a non-genuine message afterwards - reinstalling the Intel Rapid Storage drivers should fix it.  http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?ProductID=2101&DwnldID=20624

    Good Luck!
