WAMP offline server RRS feed

  • Question

  • WAMP5 (1.7.2) has been running correctly for several months with PHP (5.2.3) and mysql (5.0.37). I installed Live OneCare Beta 2.0, restarted, and now I get the message from WAMP: server offline. PHP gives me phpinfo() but will not connect use fsockopen() or fopen() to remote sites. Mysql has completely stopped working although it is listed in Services as started. I've stopped and started Apache and mysql but there is no change. The Apache logs only give me 10013 errors when I try to connect to either the database or a remote site (using HTTP).

My best guess is that this is a firewall issue, but I have no clue what I need to do to allow it to work. Do I need to make specific rules to allow a connection to mysql? That would be relatively easy to do, but what about using fsockopen() or fopen()? I'm only using port 80 to connect to HTTP sites. I tried adding a rule to allow traffic on TCP 80 but it did not change anything.

    Any suggestions?
