Sharing encrypted folders (NTFS, EFS) RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want to share NTFS-encrypted files (EFS) between different computers in my home network (simple workgroup, no domain). I have Win XP Pro, Win XP Pro 64-bit and Win 2k Pro systems. Sharing without encryption works normally, but I can't get it to work with encryption. Ideally I'd like several logins to have access to these encrypted folders (the same that currently have access to the share). The files I'd like to share are in a single directory tree, but it's rather deep and contains many files.

Also I'd like to confirm that my recovery strategy is sound and properly set up.

Is there a place to ask for help with this? Or is this impossible with NTFS and I need to use 3rd party encryption software?

    Thanks.
