Batch file not working - IE Detection RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm trying to disable Modern Authentication for users with IE8 on their systems. Got the following batch file added as logon script; works for Win10 systems but does not work properly on Win7 systems apparently. Could anyone help me in identifying the issue and correcting it please.

    Basically I want the script to detect IE version and if it is Ie8 and below then it should create the registry item.

    @echo off
    set KEY_NAME="HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer"
    set VALUE_NAME="Version"
    For /F "tokens=3*" %%A IN ('REG QUERY %KEY_NAME% /v %VALUE_NAME%') Do (set versionNumber=%%A)
    if %versionNumber% LSS 9.00.0000.00000 (reg add HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity /v EnableADAL /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f)

  • IE 8 no longer exists.  It was removed years ago.

  • Some of them still use it here; you know why it does not work on Win7 machines? Find any issues with the script?
