  • OneCare is not available for sale in Denmark, so you will not be able to activate a subscription, unfortunately.

In which countries and languages is Windows Live OneCare available?

The Windows Live OneCare subscription service is available in the following countries and languages: Australia (English), Austria (German), Belgium (Dutch, French), Canada (English, French), France (French), Germany (German), Ireland (English), Italy (Italian), Japan (Japanese), Mexico (Spanish), Netherlands (Dutch), New Zealand (English), Singapore (English), Spain (Spanish), Switzerland (French, German), United Kingdom (English), United States (English, Spanish).

  • I have this problem too and I'm in the UK which according to your post is a supported country. What do I do to change the country as I only have a day left on my trial subscription. I've also been trying to find what payment methods are accepted and can't, can you also help with that?

    Thanks

  • Hi Sarah, have a look at this post:

    http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1202298&SiteID=2

You should also verify that your LiveID profile shows the correct country - http://account.live.com and if that LiveID already has a Billing account, be sure that the profile for that is also correct - http://billing.microsoft.com

What, exactly, are you encountering when you try to activate/subscribe?

  • Hi Steve

The subscription page comes up as US only and I can't change it. I paid for my previous subscription by direct debit under my old Windows Live ID but can't seem to find this option anymore and, as I don't have visa, mastercard or diners club, I can't activate the new subscription under my new ID. My ID shows me as being in the UK, and, to make sure, I went in and saved it again today. I only have one day left to subscribe and don't want to lose the service.

    Hope you can help!

  • So, you had a subscription previously with a different LiveID and you uninstalled it and reinstalled with the intention of subscribing again with a new LiveID?

Let's try deleting cookies and Temporary Internet Files in Internet Explorer and then try signing in again. The payment form should come up for your location. I don't know why it would be showing a US form if your profile for that LiveID has you in the UK unless there's some odd cookie or temp file thing going on, serving you up the incorrect form.

  • I did exactly that. Our previous subscription was up fpr renewal but so that I could use my new ID I let it expire and then installed one care again. I have now cleared out my cookies and temp files and restarted the PC and it is still showing me a US page. What can I do now?

  • I'll reach out to the OneCare team to have them advise what the issue might be, but you probably should contact support. You'll have to use the email path as a trial user -

How to reach support (FAQ) - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2421771&SiteID=2

In addition, send me an email - sboots@mvps.org - Subject Line of "OneCare UK" and this link in the message body:

    http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2901640&SiteID=2

I'll not be on email for a few hours, but I'll respond as soon as I see your message.

  • Okay as that it is not avaibel in Danmark but still like to use it what then? I run the Vista in US mode. Can I then use it for more then 90 days.

or will it be possible to pay later or another way, with a danish visa or Mastercard?

I have no idea when OneCare will be available in Denmark, but it isn't today, so you can't officially purchase or activate it. You can't use a credit card to purchase and when you try to activate with a retail key, the process will check your IP address and your language in IE and they must match *and* they must match the list for where OneCare is available or you will not be able to create a subscription.

Now, as long as your language is supported - that is the operating system language, you can use the unsupported, not sanctioned by Microsoft workaround to activate your subscription. At the end of 12 months, if OneCare is still not available in our country, then you will need to repeat the process below or a variation of it to renew with a product key.

Create a new LiveID with a US (or other country on the above list) address. Contact a trusted friend in the country you used to create your LiveID and provide that person with the LiveID, Password, and a OneCare product key - or they will need to buy OneCare for you and use the product key from the retail box. Have them log in with the LiveID at http://onecare.live.com/activate and use the option to activate with a token using the product key from inside the retail box. They will not be installing OneCare and cannot use the key again.

Once that has been completed, change the password on the LiveID. (You can only trust people so far...) Then open OneCare on your PC and activate it with the LiveID used to create the subscription. Note that you can use a friend in any country where OneCare is available for sale per the above list. Reinstalls and installs to the 2nd and 3rd PC do not perform the check for IP and language (at this time, at least), so you won't need to repeat the process again.

I will remind you that the above is not an approved workaround and the process may cease working at any time.
