Email Activity Attachment Field Size RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there

    I've been asked by a member of our staff if it is possible to re-size the field which shows the attachments for an email. Currently it shows the top two, anymore and the user needs to scroll down. I've looked within the form designer and there isn't the settings like a normal field which allows you choose the amount of rows a field takes.

    Is there a way to do this?

    Many Thanks

  • Settings - Customization - Customize System

    Open E-Mail Entity - Default/Main Form

    Scroll Down to attachments - select Attachments

    Double click on it - Properties window will open

    Choose Register "Format" - You´ll find column layout and row layout

    You can enter a new number for rows to show

    Save, Save and then publish and you should be done.

  • Hi,

         This is one of the areas of the form which cannot be customized. But you can always add a custom component which can show all attachments for the entity.

    Hope this helps.

  • You can customize the attachment tab on email entity. Double click on it and switch to register "Format" and find "Number of Rows" at the bottom. Customize it and publish your new settings

  • Hi again

    Carsten, I don't seem to be able to get to Number of Rows within the email entity. I only have column width.

    MinalDahiya, would you be able to point me the direction of creating a custom component to show attachments?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

        Here is the sample code from SDK

    // Define columns to retrieve from the annotation record.
                        ColumnSet cols = new ColumnSet("filename", "documentbody");

     // Retrieve the annotation record.
                        Annotation retrievedAnnotation =
                            (Annotation)_serviceProxy.Retrieve("annotation", _annotationId, cols);
                        Console.WriteLine(", and retrieved.");
                        _fileName = retrievedAnnotation.FileName;

                        // Download the attachment in the current execution folder.
                        using (FileStream fileStream = new FileStream(retrievedAnnotation.FileName, FileMode.OpenOrCreate))
                        {
                            byte[] fileContent = Convert.FromBase64String(retrievedAnnotation.DocumentBody);
                            fileStream.Write(fileContent, 0, fileContent.Length);
                        }

                        Console.WriteLine("Attachment downloaded.");
    Sample application available in

    SampleCode\CS\BusinessDataModel\Annotation\UploadAndDownloadAttachment.cs

    Hope this helps.

  • Very strange, I would have thought that CRM OnPremise would have that feature...

  • My CRM OnPremise (UR13) is offering the same window. I can adjust the Number of Rows

  • That maybe it then, we are still on UR11, while we iron out a few coding problems which occur if we upgrade.
