OneCare Does Not Work -- is it because of VirTool:WinTN/Roodkitdrv ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I installed OneCare. I get lots of pop-ups.

I previously used Spy Sweeper and never had any pop-ups.

Re: "VirTool:WinTN/Roodkitdrv" - OneCare detected a number of files that it cleaned up. It reported that the Quarantine Failed for "VirTool:WinTN/Roodkitdrv". I have followed the suggestions to remove it manually but OneCare doesn't tell me where it is or what the file name is so I can't remove it. Is quarantine failure the cause of me getting popups?

    Can anyone tell me:

    1. Whether "VirTool:WinTN/Roodkitdrv" has anything to do with OneCare's failure?

    2. If so then how do I get rid of it?

  • I appreciate all the help this forum provides!

I still don't know what VirTool:WinNT/RootKitdrv is or why it can't be quarentined. However, I reinstalled Spy Sweeper and it found the following that OneCare did not:

    Trojan-agent.gen

    Zquest

    PurityScan

    WebBuying

    RadioSearchEnhancer

    Virtmonde

    ZenosearchAssistant

    Why doesn't OneCare find these?
