Validation fails for Office 2003 -- Office 2003 NOT installed RRS feed

  • Question

  • Windows Update fails to install Office Genuine Advantage Notifications (KB949810).  If I run update from MS website the update history says update failed for product "Office 2003" but I'm using Office 2007.  The installation failure error code is 0x80070643.  Other updates have installed ok.

  • I can see no problems with your MGADiag report.

Please repost your query to the Windwos XP Updates forum

    http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en/vistawu/threads

Mention that your MGADiag is clear - but there's no point in posting it there.

    Good Luck!

  • Hello abidabbi,

Even though the Update that is not installing is the OGA Update, support is provided thru normal Windows Update means.

Windows/Microsoft Update support is provided here:  http://support.microsoft.com/ph/6527#tab0

    and here: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/threads?filter=alltypes

BTW, the KB949810 Update applies to Office XP, 2003, and 2007 (and possibly 2010 as well).

One little thing you can check that we have heard is that if the Task Scheduler Service is set to manual or disabled, the KB949810 Update will not install.  If it turns out this is not the problem, please request help at the links above.

    Good Luck!

  • Dan, Thanks and I think Noel was talking about the link (it's for Vista).

Anyway, I found my way to Windows XP Update forum and reposted.  I will let you know what I find out.

    Thanks for your help!
