  • BIGGEST MISTAKE IN WINDOWS MOBILE 6:

--> Not implementing continuous notifications for unread SMS/MMS messages, emails, missed calls, and voicemails

Because of this if you don't hear the first ring or feel the first vibration, your phone will never again notify you that you missed something.

Had this feature on my Motorola Q Black which ran Windows Mobile. I now have a Samsung Omnia (being returned for a Blackberry) with WM6 and this isn't on there. This feature is VERY IMPORTANT to many people, and they are writing about it on other forums constantly! How could you leave this out??? So simple to fix I'm sure.

I will not buy another Windows Mobile phone, as much as I want to, until this feature is restored. I'm returning the Omnia to Verizon tomorrow to get a Blackberry. There is not a question in my mind that these notifications are very important to other people as well! Nice going Windows Mobile Development Team! As a computer engineer and gadget lover my opinion of your company just changed slightly for the worse.

  • Thanks for the responses. I no longer have issues as I swapped the Samsung Omnia with Windows Mobile 6.1 for a Blackberry Storm today. I was also dealing with the "resend when digital service is available" error.. It was resending my text messages as multiple identical copies to people anywhere from a few minutes to a day late. As much as I love Windows Mobile I'm going to pass on release 6. Best of luck.

  • Thank you for your feedback Knowledge8069. I too depend up on the notifications I receive on my Samsung Windows Mobile 6.1 device. Your request makes sense. (I find that I use my device often to check the time instead of wearing a watch. I use the visual notifications regarding the number of unread messages, missed calls (including the display on the home screen indicating who my missed calls were from), and voicemails. I remember when the first Microsoft Smart wristwatches were first made available and my computer engineer and gadget lover friends rushed to the store. Now we've come full circle where we all carry our Windows Mobile devices like they're each an extension of ourselves!)  I'm sharing your feedback with the team. We take every customer request seriously. I'll also see if anyone has recommendations for restoring your requested feature so you can consider keeping and enjoying your Windows Mobile device!  Again, we really appreciate your taking the time to share your views.

  • I just heard back from one of my colleagues (Jeffrey) that "there are many apps that provide this..including this free application:"

Thanks to Knowledge8069 for raising this request and to Jeffrey for this helpful tweak. We appreciate the difference between built in capabilities and free tweaks, so we will continue to factor in feedback for future on-device features. I'm marking this thread as answered thanks to Jeffrey's workaround, but feel free Knowledge8069 to Unmark as Answered or share any additional thoughts and we'll continue to read your valuable feedback. Much appreciated.

  • Ok I had already done this manually by editing the registry myself. I downloaded this knowing full well it DOESN'T WORK and sure enough, it repeats the reminder LONG after you have read your messages. If you or Jeffrey had visited the link you gave then you would see that EVERY person who has commented on the program on that page says the same thing. That is because the Repeat function in Windows Mobile 6 is broken. Is it really that difficult to fix? Seriously, it's probably a few lines of code. In fact, why don't you put the code out onto a forum and have the public solve it for you? Maybe the Windows Mobile Development Team can't do it. Fine then, let us do it for you and everyone will be happy.

I really don't want to say this but I'm going to be honest: Microsoft just lost more points for that response. It was extremely unhelpful and in fact only wasted more time. Come on Development Team, do something!!!!

  • I'm glad you were able to edit your own registry manually and I'm sorry you don't feel this is helpful. The team is still considering your feedback.

I understand your desire to have a continuous notification alarm but for me I would find it potentially problematic.  For example if I were in a place that I did not want to take a call to have it continually beeping might well prove to be a pain although I will say that if I did choose to not take a call I do want a reminder which in fact I do get.

When a call comes in and if a message is left, there is that initial notification but then there is a symbol at the top of screen indicating that I have a missed call, email, message etc.  That "silent" reminder remains until I access it and has (for me) proved to be very valuable especially if I was waiting for a call and somehow missed it.

I did see this Mail Notification program (http://www.universital.net/Products/MailNotification/tabid/58/Default.aspx) that may be of interest to you.  I did like the feature that will allow you to configure your device to play a sound even if the sound is off.  It may be something that will meet some of your needs and there is a "try before you buy" option.

I can't find anny application for this, yes for WM 6 but not for WM 6.1 i hate this!! and i mis it!!
