The product ID -068- Indicates a not for resale MSDN account. If you are not the account holder and you purchased this in a retail box, the box and it's contents are counterfeit. Demand an immediate refund from the seller

    For more information see this:

    and this:

To see how good these counterfeits are becoming, see:

You will have to purchase a legitimate windows from a legitimate retailer.

  •     I know the owner of the store is in possession on several Windows 7 and Microsoft 2010, If I can get them away from him is Microsoft willing to have me send them to them to study and will this allow Microsoft to help me obtain a Genuine product key so I may recoup some of the loss. asking for input. Thanks

  • No.  The Microsoft Genuine Advantage offer is only good for one counterfeit copy of software per consumer who actually installed the software and discovered the issue.

  •  How do I become validated and genuine at this point and how much will it cost me, I am a student and I need my computer, I donot have any money and I am aggravated with this store that sold me the bad product.  I apologize and I know this is not your problem. Thank you, appreciate any help you can provide.

  • have you tried to get a refund from the shop owner?

If you do not get satisfaction, threats to report to your law enforcement agencies that deal with counterfeiting and fraud may work.

  • Carey, Thank you for your reply, how does the Genuine advantage offer work, and can I purchase a Windows 7 UPGRADE and make it work with that product key. I apologize if I sound computer illiterate. Thanks Mark

  • In your situation, you can only use a Windows 7 "Full Version" product key.  Once you fill out the Counterfeit Software Report and submit it, a page will appear explaing the program.

To qualify for a kit follow the steps below:

    1.      A printed copy of the online counterfeit report (see above)

    2.      The counterfeit Windows operating system CD or DVD

    3.      The original purchase receipt of the software or computer, including the date of purchase, name and address of the seller

    4.      Mail the printed report and documentation to the following address [redacted]

After we receive the information, if you have inadvertently purchased Microsoft Office or Windows software that is counterfeit, we will send you a complimentary replacement.
