  • If you install from the CD now, and activate with your subscription LiveID, it will inherit the current expiration and not ask you for the key. Don't uninstall OneCare. You only need the retail key to renew/extend your subscription.

If your subscription has not expired, go to http://billing.microsoft.com and sign in with your subscription LiveID. (Open OneCare and click help/about to view the subscription LiveID)

Select the OneCare subscription and click on the renew link.

Choose the option to renew with a prepaid PIN or token which is the retail product key.

Enter the 25 character key and proceed.

It can take up to 24 hours for the subscription status to be updated in OneCare.

  • Thank you Stephen

I take it that if I go to     http:// billing .microsoft.com   and enter my new 25 character key it will extend me to 04/27/09 . If so I will do it tommorrow ,if you could verify that is the case.

    Again Thank You

  • I uninstalled, reinstalled and I'm still being stalked by the expiration notice.48 hours passed and still in-the-red! Like you purchased a discounted copy instead of the standard renewal. Thanks.

  • You don't need to uninstall and reinstall, you just need to input the new Key from the box you bought per the instructions above.    I have 3 Boxes sitting on the self now, all bought at good prices, I will use the Key from one box for renewal in 6 months, then the KEY from another box a year from that, and so forth each year  ..etc.   And all the while OneCare will continuesly update itself as time goes on when your subscription is active.  I.e. Thus you don't ever need to realy reinstall from the CD after the first install.  Just buy and use the Key from a new retail purchase, especialy if you find a good deal on them.  PK

If your subscription to OneCare shows incorrect or expired in OneCare

    • Check your PC date and time.
    • Check your subscription status by logging in with your subscription LiveID at http://billing.microsoft.com
    • Confirm that this is the same LiveID shown to be the Subscription ID in OneCare - Help/About…
    • Open OneCare and click "Check for Updates" to have OneCare check for updated credentials

If your subscription is correctly shown at the Billing site, but incorrect in OneCare and your PC date and time are correct, please contact support.
