Upgrade from 120 day trial ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Sorry for the newb question, but how do you upgrade from the 120 trial ?

Also If I do upgrade I won't loose anything done during the 120 days and the connections to home computers ?

  • Hi Edwin,
the only option to upgrade is to perform a server reinstall with the new installation media. This is a special installation method, which wipes only the OS (and the user accounts, Add-Ins, customizations), but leaves the data intact.
Dependend from your hardware a server reinstall may not be offered, but if this is the case for your configuration you can ask here again, what to do.
Ideally your disks are configured with SATA controller in IDE mode to avoid trouble with the drivers. The primary disk (system drive) must be detected as drive 0.

  • This question comes up a lot. I've written a quick FAQ on the subject...
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • I have run the full 120 day eval and put off installing my licensed WHS disc because of this exact question.  Thank you very much for the information - this forum is VERY helpful.
